The Magma Flow: A One-of-a-Kind Art Table Sculpted From Liquid Motion

Some tables are designed. This one feels like it was captured mid-motion. The Magma Flow is Leonardo Gravina's hand-sculpted, bespoke 1-of-1 edition oval dining table, built around a proprietary multi-layering technique that gives the surface an almost impossible sense of three-dimensional depth, as if molten rock had been frozen in glass at the exact moment it stopped flowing.

What sets The Magma Flow apart isn't just color or pattern, it's genuine optical depth. Suspended throughout the resin are round, sphere-like forms in a range of different sizes, layered at different depths beneath the surface. Because each sphere sits at its own level within the resin, the table reads as a true three-dimensional scene rather than a flat, painted design, closer to looking into a piece of amber or a still body of water than at a conventional tabletop.

The effect goes a step further with a color-shifting pigment used within the spheres themselves. Rather than holding a single fixed color, each sphere shifts in tone depending on the angle you view it from, so the same table can look entirely different from the head of the table compared to the side. Walk around it, and the spheres appear to glow, shift, and change color as the light catches them differently from every angle, giving the piece a genuinely alive, ever-changing quality that no photograph can fully capture. This is the same proprietary multi-layering approach we describe in more detail in our blog on the art of depth and why multiple resin layers create a 3D masterpiece, taken here to its most dramatic expression yet.

Every Leonardo Gravina table is handcrafted, but The Magma Flow carries a particular weight as a bespoke, one-of-one piece. The placement of the spheres, their sizes, and the way the color-shifting pigment settles during the pour can never be replicated exactly the same way twice, which means the table you order becomes the only one of its kind in the world. For collectors and clients drawn to our Artwork collection, this is precisely the appeal: a piece that behaves less like furniture and more like a sculpture you happen to eat dinner on.

While the design shown online is the starting point, this table (like every Leonardo Gravina piece) can be fully adapted to your space:

• Shape: organic, oval, rectangular, or round

• Size: from a cozy 160x90cm table seating 4 to 6, up to the 500x120cm "5-Meter Giant" seating 20, or a round table up to 200cm seating 12

• Sphere size and density: the scale and placement of the round forms within the resin can be adjusted to suit the mood you want, from a scattering of small orbs to larger, more dramatic spheres

• Color depth and edge finishing: every detail is adapted to match your interior

• Companion pieces: matching artworks and custom dressers can be created in the same signature style to complete the room

Standard height is 75 cm with a 4 cm tabletop thickness, though every dimension can be tailored to your exact space.

A piece like The Magma Flow deserves more than a product photo, since so much of its character comes from the way it shifts under real light. Request a short video consultation via WhatsApp, where Leonardo will show the piece from the showroom so you can see the color-shift effect for yourself. Or visit our showroom in Lanaken by appointment to see it in person.

Round, sphere-like forms in varying sizes are suspended at different depths within multiple layers of resin, which creates genuine visual depth rather than a printed or flat design.

The spheres are made using a color-shifting pigment, so each one reflects a different tone depending on the angle of view and the light source, giving the surface a constantly shifting, almost alive quality.

The specific placement of the spheres and how the color-shifting pigment settles during the pour can never be exactly duplicated, making each version genuinely unique, even if you order the same base design.

Yes, the scale and placement of the round forms can be adjusted, from a subtle scattering of small orbs to larger, more dramatic spheres throughout the table.
