How Long Does a Custom Epoxy Resin Table Take to Make? | Leonardo Gravina

The Short Answer

From your first inquiry to delivery at your door, most custom epoxy resin tables by Leonardo Gravina are completed in 6 to 10 weeks. Some straightforward pieces can be finished in as little as 4–5 weeks. Larger commissions — think 3-metre tables or complex gemstone sculptures — may take up to 12–14 weeks.
There are no shortcuts when you’re building something that’s meant to last a lifetime.

Step 1: Design Consultation (1–2 weeks)

Every table starts with a conversation. You share your vision — the dimensions, the colour palette, the mood you’re going for. I share my expertise: what works technically, what will photograph well in your interior, what materials will hold up beautifully over decades.
This back-and-forth may happen over email, WhatsApp, or a video call. Once we’ve agreed on all the details, I prepare a personalised quote and a written order confirmation.
This phase typically takes 1 to 2 weeks depending on how quickly we align on the design.

Step 2: Material Sourcing (1–2 weeks)

For standard pieces, I work with materials I keep in stock. But for bespoke commissions — especially those featuring specific gemstones like amethyst, labradorite, or citrine — I may need to source the right slabs or crystals specifically for your piece.
I work with trusted suppliers across Europe and beyond, and I take material quality seriously. A poor slab of amethyst or a substandard wood base will undermine even the best resin work. So I take the time to source right.
This phase adds roughly 1 to 2 weeks for unique material requests.

Step 3: Preparation and Base Construction (3–5 days)

Before the resin ever gets poured, the base elements — whether that’s a live-edge wood slab, a marble design table, a stone foundation, or a combination — need to be prepared, sanded, cleaned, and positioned precisely within the mould.
Getting the base right is non-negotiable. Any movement or imprecision at this stage will affect the final piece.

Step 4: Resin Pouring — The Heart of the Process (1–3 weeks)

This is where most of the time goes — and rightly so.
Epoxy resin cannot be rushed. Each layer must cure completely before the next one is applied. Depending on the design, a table may require anywhere from 3 to 10 individual pours, each with its own curing time of 24 to 72 hours.
For pieces with embedded gemstones, gold leaf, or 3D elements, the layering process becomes even more precise. The Amauri table — the piece that started everything for me — involved multiple gold-gilded layers that had to be applied and sealed one by one, each at exactly the right stage of cure.
There’s no way to compress this timeline without compromising the result. Rushing resin causes bubbles, cloudiness, uneven surfaces, and structural weakness. I don’t do that.

Step 5: Grinding, Sanding, and Polishing (3–7 days)

Once all layers have fully cured, the real transformation begins. The surface is ground down progressively — from coarse to ultra-fine grits — before receiving its final polish.
This is physical, skilled work. A flawless mirror-like finish requires hours of careful sanding by hand and by machine. It’s the stage that separates a craft piece from a furniture piece.
Depending on the size and finish type, this phase takes 3 to 7 days.

Step 6: Base Finishing and Final Assembly (2–4 days)

The table legs — custom metalwork, solid wood, or stone — are fitted and finished. Every joint is checked. The underside is treated.
I photograph the finished piece in natural light before it leaves the workshop. Every piece is documented before it goes.

Step 7: Packaging and Worldwide Delivery (3–10 days)

Each table is custom-packed for its specific dimensions and destination. I ship worldwide — to clients across Europe, the United States, Australia, and the Middle East — and I’ve handled over 375 deliveries without a single piece arriving damaged.
Delivery typically takes 3 to 10 days depending on destination, with tracking provided.

Why Does It Take This Long?

Because your table isn’t pulled from a warehouse.
Every piece I make is built specifically for you — your dimensions, your colours, your interior. The materials are sourced for your piece. The resin is poured for your piece. The polishing is done by my hands, for your piece.
That kind of work takes time. And that time is exactly what you’re paying for when you invest in a custom epoxy resin table.

A Note on Rush Orders

I occasionally accommodate shorter timelines for clients with specific deadlines — a renovation completion date, a housewarming, a milestone occasion. If timing matters to you, mention it early in our conversation. I’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
