Beach Art Ocean Wave Table: Water and Movement Frozen in Resin

There’s a particular kind of stillness that comes from looking at the ocean — the pull of a current, the way dark water suddenly turns pale and foamy where a wave breaks, a bright vein of light cutting through the surface. The Beach Art Ocean Wave table captures that exact feeling and holds it permanently, poured entirely by hand into resin.

At Leonardo Gravina, the Ocean Wave design is one of our most striking pieces — not because it’s loud, but because it feels alive. Every swirl and current is shaped by hand, which means every table is a genuine one-off.

The version we’ve crafted most often — and the one shown in our own photos — is a dramatic black and white ocean, with smoky greys and whites swirling like moving water across a deep black base. Running through the center, we often add a striking vein of raw, crystalline gold flakes, like a river of light cutting straight through the dark water. This gold river is entirely optional: the same black and white wave effect stands beautifully on its own, without any metallic detailing at all.

Because this effect is built into the resin itself, not painted on top, light behaves the way it would over real water — traveling into the layers rather than simply reflecting off the surface, so the piece genuinely seems to move as the light in the room changes throughout the day.

Every Ocean Wave table is built in careful, hand-worked stages:

1. Depth layering — Multiple tones of resin are poured in sequence to build a genuine sense of depth, rather than a flat, single-tone surface.

2. Wave shaping — While the resin is still workable, it’s manually manipulated to form the swirling, current-like movement of water, often flowing along the length of the table.

3. Optional gold river — Raw, crystalline gold flakes can be worked into a central vein running through the piece, creating a striking contrast against the dark water around it.

4. Curing and polishing — Once fully cured, the surface is sanded and polished to a deep, glass-like gloss that allows light to travel into the layers.

While black and white is the execution we’ve crafted most so far, the underlying technique isn’t limited to those tones. A true blue ocean effect — pale turquoise fading into deep navy, closer to the color of the sea itself — is absolutely something we can create, using the same hand-layering approach. We simply haven’t made one yet, so you won’t find a blue Ocean Wave table in our existing photos or on the website. If that’s the direction you want, we’d build it as a genuine first: a fully custom commission, discussed and developed together from your first inquiry through to the finished piece.

The same applies to other color directions beyond black, white, and blue — the wave-forming technique adapts to whatever palette suits your interior.

The black and white version in particular reads as sculptural and dramatic rather than literal or themed, which is why it works just as well in a bold, contemporary interior as it does in a home with a genuine coastal setting. It pairs well with dark or brushed metal accents, and the optional gold river adds a warm, luxurious contrast to an otherwise monochrome piece.

As with our Galaxy and Gold Cloud designs, no Ocean Wave table is built from a fixed template. You choose the exact size and shape of the tabletop, whether to include the gold river detail, and the overall color direction — black and white, a fully custom blue ocean, or another palette entirely.

Despite its artistic detail, an Ocean Wave table is a fully functional dining table. Once cured, the surface is hard, scratch-resistant, and easy to maintain with nothing more than a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner, in line with all our epoxy resin dining tables.

Every table ships worldwide free of charge, usually via air freight, packed in a custom-made crate built specifically for that piece. The shipment is fully insured, so you carry zero risk, and all customs paperwork is handled entirely on our end.
