How to Choose the Right Epoxy Resin Table for Your Dining Room

Choosing a dining table is one of the most personal decisions you’ll make for your home. It’s where your family eats, where guests gather, where stories are told. So when you’re considering a custom epoxy resin table, you want to get it exactly right — the shape, the size, the colour, the finish.

This guide walks you through every factor to consider, so you can make a confident choice that you’ll love for decades.

1. Start With the Right Size

Before anything else, measure your dining room. A common mistake is choosing a table that’s either too large (leaving no room to walk around) or too small (feeling lost in a big space).

General guidelines:

- Leave at least 90 cm of clearance on all sides of the table for comfortable movement.

- For a dining table of 6 people, aim for at least 180 × 90 cm.

- For 8 people, 220 × 100 cm or more is ideal.

- Don’t forget to account for chairs when pushed out.

At Leonardo Gravina, every table is made to your exact dimensions — so you never have to compromise.

2. Round, Oval, or Rectangular?

The shape of your table changes the entire feel of the room.

Rectangular tables are the classic choice. They work well in longer rooms, clearly define the head of the table, and are ideal for larger families or dinner parties. Most of our river table designs — with their flowing epoxy channels — are stunning in rectangular format.

Oval tables bring softness and flow to a dining room. They’re ideal for smaller spaces because they remove the sharp corners, making movement easier. An oval epoxy table with a marble effect is one of the most elegant pieces you can place in a home. (Read more: [Choosing an Oval Marble Dining Table](/blogs/news/oval-marble-dining-table))

Round tables encourage conversation — everyone faces each other equally. They work beautifully in square rooms or as a statement piece in an open-plan kitchen.

3. Choose Your Epoxy Style

This is where the real artistry begins. Epoxy resin opens up a world of visual possibilities that no other material can match.

River & ocean effects — Deep blues, greens, or turquoise flowing through the table like water. These are our most requested designs and work beautifully in both modern and classic interiors.

Marble effects — Epoxy can replicate the look of Calacatta, Nero Marquina, or custom marble patterns — but with far more durability and a unique artistic touch. No two pieces are ever identical.

Gold & silver art — Multi-layer epoxy compositions with 24-carat gold or silver pouring create a three-dimensional depth that catches light in extraordinary ways. Our Amauri table, the piece that started it all, uses this technique.

Geode & gemstone inlays — For those who want something truly exceptional, we work with amethyst, agate, and other natural stones embedded in crystal-clear resin. These are collector-level pieces.

Not sure which style suits your interior? Share some photos of your space and we’ll help you find the perfect match.

4. Consider the Base & Legs

The table top is the star — but the legs complete the piece.

We offer multiple design signature steel legs. Contact us for more details.

5. Think About Durability & Daily Use

One of the most common questions we receive: is an epoxy resin table practical for daily use?

The answer is yes — with a few things to keep in mind.

  • Epoxy resin is highly resistant to moisture, stains, and scratches when properly finished.
  • Avoid placing very hot items (above 60°C) directly on the surface without a trivet.
  • Clean with a soft, damp cloth — no abrasive cleaners needed.
  • With normal care, a Leonardo Gravina table will maintain its finish for 20+ years.

6. Budget: What Should You Expect to Pay?

Custom epoxy resin tables are an investment — but one that holds its value and outlasts mass-produced furniture many times over.

Pricing depends on size, design complexity, and materials used. As a general guide:

- Entry-level river tables start from around €2,500

- Mid-range bespoke pieces with marble or gold effects typically range from €3,500–€6,000

- Collector-level geode and gemstone tables can exceed €20,000

7. The Custom Process: What to Expect

At Leonardo Gravina, every table begins with a conversation. Here’s how the process works:

Consultation — You share your vision, room dimensions, preferred style, and budget.

Design proposal — We advise on shape, colour palette, leg style, and dimensions.

Confirmation & deposit — Production begins once the design is agreed and a deposit is placed.

Creation — Each table is hand-crafted in our atelier in Lanaken, Belgium. Multiple epoxy layers are poured and cured over several days.

Delivery & installation — We deliver across Belgium and the Netherlands. International delivery is also available.

Lead time is typically 6 - 8 weeks depending on complexity and current order schedule.
